Extreme teenage behaviour
In 2003 Mark Haddon won the Book of the Year Award for his first adult novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time. He’d been writing children’s books for some time and chose as his subject a teenager with Asperger’s syndrome. He claims he knew very little about this less extreme form of autism and had done no research before embarking on his book.

Festive London
Before Christmas the shops were mobbed. In one store, Selfridges, women were standing in a queue to be allowed to enter the area where they sell Louis Vuitton handbags. They would probably be in line for over 30 minutes. And all this for the privilege of spending over £600 ($1000) on a piece of ‘arm candy’.
