The cucumber plant (originally from India) is a creeping vine that roots in the ground and grows up trellises or other supporting frames, wrapping around supports with thin, spiralling tendrils.
There is a variety called the Armenian cucumber that grows up to 36 inches long. Small cucumbers (3-4 inches long) are often pickled in a brine of salt, garlic and dill. All of them are usually 90% water.
